Theoretical Orientation"When we learn how to love, we learn how to heal." ~ Becca Stevens I practice Integrative Psychotherapy ~ applying Emotionally Focused Therapy, Person-Centered therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral and Solution-Focused therapeutic methods within the context of hope, faith, and loving positive regard for all people. I place value in being authentic, compassionate, patient, teachable, and humble in my interaction with clients. I look for the strengths in all people and believe the best in them, while helping identify areas for growth. I work with historical dynamics such as family constellation and early memories, as well as current thoughts and feelings to encourage a goal-directed reshaping of relationships; both for my client(s) and their larger community. The foundation of my therapy is about receiving and giving life, reaching a higher level of maturity, receiving healing for life’s traumas, and moving toward a life filled with honesty, self- awareness and genuine joy. I believe this can best be achieved through the following: · being able to recognize God’s voice · being able to forgive self and to forgive others · being able to return to a heart of joy and gratitude after trauma · being able to live more often from a heart and attitude of compassionate love Personal Information
My husband and I were married in 1980. We lived in Oregon, Texas, Nevada and California before moving to Colorado. We have three adult daughters and four grandchildren. I enjoy hiking in the mountains with my husband and children, swimming, bicycling, running, gardening, cooking, playing with my grandchildren, teaching and learning about topics related to health, spirituality, and wholeness.
In 2005, after our youngest child graduated from high school, I decided to go back to college to pursue my passion for helping people find healing from trauma, joy in life, and fulfillment through meaningful relationship with God. It seemed that earning a degree in counseling and a degree in ministry would be a good way to achieve this goal. Degrees, Credentials, & Certifications
